Trip to Los Angeles

OK, for those of you who haven't heard already - we're moving to America! Yes, I probably should have announced this on the Blog a bit earlier (we've known since January) and it's now only 3 weeks away! We leave Perth on May 9, go through Tokyo for 4 days and arrive in LA on Tuesday May 13. We'll be living in the Santa Monica area and Rich will be working for the same company, Woodside, but on a new project that's based in the LA office. We don't have housing there yet, we'll be in a temporary apartment when we arrive, but we'll let everyone know our contact details when we do!

So, in preparation for our move, Woodside sent John and I over to Santa Monica in March for a week to start looking at housing, set up bank accounts, look at cars, etc, etc. Here we are at the Perth airport early Palm Sunday morning all strapped in for the ride. Sydney and Daddy came to see us off. As John and I started to walk to the Customs area and disappeared around the corner, Sydney started to cry and yell "Mommy". I, of course, teared up and wanted to give her another hug. I felt all warm and needed until I spoke to Rich when I got to Singapore and he told me she stopped crying about 5 seconds after I left and said all she really wanted to do was see what was behind the corner - she couldn't care less that I had left!
Here's little John hanging out in the Singapore lounge. OK, totally cheesy, staged photo, but I love it. All of the cleaning ladies and servers in the lounge just thought he was the cutest thing ever. They brought me blankets to put under him on the floor, they laughed and cooed at him, sang him songs in Chinese and kept telling me "Tai Ke Ei - So Cute". Yeah, we know.
Here he is all rugged up for the chilly Santa Monica evening. It was the first time he'd ever been in weather this "cold" so I stuck the beanie on his head and lots of layers. As you can see, he's really bothered by the chilly air. I'd be sleeping too if I was all tucked in to a pram and someone was pushing me.

Aunty Lori was on Spring Break with school so she flew out and spent 5 days with us. She was, seriously, John's Nanny for the week and did everything but feed him. It made the trip so much more enjoyable for me - thanks for coming, Lori! Now, where is that purse?
