Just Hanging Around

There isn't anything horribly exciting to report from the Tasker household unless you want to hear all the details of making inventory lists, packing, ditching stuff, giving away food, etc - didn't think you did! So here are a few happy snaps that I've taken the last week in between cleaning and packing. The kids are growing up so quickly - I better not blink.

Here are Sydney and John hanging out in Sydney's pink pappsan chair in her room. Our new nightly ritual is for the two of the to sit on the chair (I'm not renegaded to the floor, I used to sit in the chair with Sydney, but I've been told) and I read them the bedtime stories. There is a very particular way that they both must sit - Sydney on the right, John on the left, his legs across her's - if the leg falls off she promptly replaces it. John is already intrigued by the pictures in the books - he is his mother's son!

I took this one just last night. I've started propping John up in this sit-in toy and he's loving it. I forgot how quickly they start to learn and be interactive with the world when they hit 4 months - he just wants to be a part of what's going on. He now gets bored very quickly lying under his play arch or in his bouncy chair. His favourite activity is just talking with people. So we usually have a good, long chat and play in the morning just the three of us.

John is the best laugher in the world. You can get him rolling just by saying "boo". So we usually have a few good laughing sessions throughout the day, which I love. He's still an incredibly easy-going child. I've even managed to ween him of the pacifier already - yeah - and he puts himself to sleep by cuddling this little blue bunny rug with satin edging. He like to lay it across his face with the silk on this cheeks.

I had to get the below moment on camera - Sydney eating! That doesn't always happen. But here she is chowing down on Tacos - she had three! And a full tub of yogurt! And a mommy-sized handful of grapes! Oh my gosh, she might explode. Actually, when I gave her a bath afterwards her stomach was really far out, very cute. I told her we'll have lots of tacos at Mexican restaurants when we're in America (though of course I'm more excited about that than she is).

Sydney continues to delight us with more and more expressions and words. Her latest phrase is "I'm not scared of..." Yesterday she announced "I'm not scared of the garbage truck". And about 20 minutes later when she heard the garbage truck outside (note, she was inside, upstairs looking out the bedroom window - no where near the truck) - she ran over to me and said "Actually, I am scared of the garbage truck". And I love it when I ask her in the car "Is John awake" - she'll say "no", then I ask "Is John asleep" and she'll say "no". Hmmm....
