Who's the Leader of the Club...

...that's made for you and me? M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!

Yes, Disneyland is our new playground, and who can blame us? It's just so darn much fun! We are official Southern Californian Annual Passholders (parking included) to Disneyland and we plan on going their LOTS! Rich took a day in lieu on Monday and we packed the kids, pjs and all, into the car at 6:45am and sped off to Disneyland. After we purchased our passes we headed straight to the Dumbo ride - finally getting smart and tackling a very popular ride first off so we could beat the crowds - we even rode it twice.

This first picture is a bit out of order as it was actually the last pic taken of the day as we were leaving. Now let me explain, in the days of my youth, there were like 8 Mickey Mouses that wandered, unaccompanied around the park and you literally tripped over the all the time. Now they all have their own "station" around the park, are accompanied by "minders" and - you know, it's tough work being a character, you have to smile all day long - are only "on station" for like 20 minutes at a time. So how totally excited were we when saw Mickey at the entrance of Main Street USA and were able to get a photo with him. YEAH!

Sydney has been quite obssessed with Cinderella for quite some time. She could watch that movie for hours; and I have to sing the Cinderella songs - complete with mice voices - in the car all the time. She was absolutely in awe as we came up Main Street USA and approached the castle - her little mouth dropped open and all she could do was point. It was so cute.

Here we are on our second ride of Dumbo the Flying Elephant. I think she was a bit scared the first time - didn't really know what she was supposed to do. I could see her clinging to Daddy and not very smiley. The second time around she asked me to keep it high and make it fly, so I think she was getting the point by then and it was FUN!

And what's better than a family ride on the carousel? As you can see, even John was loving the ride.

We gladly skipped over this part last year, but we could deny Sydney the opportunity to see the Princess Coronation ceremony at the Princess Faire. Here is our little Princess sitting on the throne waiting for her Prince Charming (Daddy?) to come and sweep her off her feet. This was actually quite sweet - they have this huge stage and area in front of the stage that all the little girls - let's be honest, there weren't really any boys there - can stand on and dance along with the Princesses. They teach them how to bow and curtsy and then (drum roll please), Aurora, Snow White and YES, IN THE FLESH - CINDERELLA - come on stage and dance.

And then, wait, it gets better, they bring out the Maypoles and the three princesses join the little girls in a Maypole dance. Yes - we DANCED with Cinderella! Sydney kept asking me "where are the mice" - unfortunately, the stage was just too pretty for Gus Gus to come out and scamper around.
There's just something about Disneyland that makes kids smile. Adults too.
