John's Baptism

John was Baptised today, June 15th - which just happens to also be American Father's Day. We had him baptised in the church the my sisters and I grew up in. It was a very nice service and he was the perfect little boy, as usual.

Melanie was the Pastor and John's Godparents are my sister, Laura, and my best friend, Gerry, and her husband, Mike. The other guy standing all the way to the left is Jamie - he is an Elder at the church and he and I were in youth group together years ago and have done mission trips and youth trips together, so it was a nice touch having him ask the questions of the congregation.

John just stared at the water in the baptismal fount as Melanie put the water on his head - he was absolutely still. He was wearing our family's baptismal gown and John is the sixth, possibly seventh, generation to wear the gown. It's about 130-140 years old and in perfect condition.

He fell asleep about 20 minutes before the end of the service and slept through all the formal pictures - what an angel.

This is probably one of the best photos we have of the three of us - I love it. Unfortunately Sydney is sick - a bit of gastro - so we sent her home with Aunty Mary right after the baptism, so she's not in any photos.

Another mutual friend (don't forget Lis - how I found you in the first place). All is well - I can't believe how much there is to set up! I got your email in my other address - we switched email addresses so I only got it the other day. Am soooooo far behind in emails! Hope you're doing well and that winter in June isn't getting you down.
