Cousins Art Show 2011

I stole a wonderful idea from a friend and the four "cousin wives" organized an Art Show by our own little Picassos. The second cousins all came up to our house during school holidays and rotated their way through various craft stations. Painting was a really big hit, as was the fingerstamping art. We traced hands that were later made into Christmas trees, strung beads on pipecleaners to make into candy canes and each kid decorated their own frame.

The above are all the little artists in front of their artwork. Kate (Rich's cousin) wrote out these awesome artist profiles for each of the kids and we gave each piece a name. Everyone was given a copy of the dossier and had a chance to place blind bids in envelopes by each piece - the highest bidder was the "winner".

I love how "into" it all the adults got. We had some great bids - like "a goat" - and we placed a pretend bid for one of the Uncles for $150 which threw up a lot of laughs when it was announced. We raised $390 from all the family members which we used to purchase gifts such as school supplies, a cow and children's immunizations through World Vision.

It was fabulous having the entire family up to our house - so much fun. It was an early Christmas celebration with the extended family since there were a lot of different plans on Christmas Day and we wouldn't all be together. The 8 great-grandkids had a really fun time together - a lot of laughs and craziness.

GG Joyce and Angus in the playhouse - not sure who's having more fun!

Ollie, not so sure he wants Aunty Jen to snap another photo.

Charli was the life of the party - such a free, happy spirit.
