First Day of 3-Year-Old Kindy for John

Poor John was sick on the first official day of school, so he had to wait until the second week of school to start. This is the kid who used to cry when we dropped Sydney off at school back in Texas because he wanted to stay. He was so excited to finally have his own school to attend - he spent the whole morning at my side asking "is it time to go yet, is it time to go yet".

The day before his first day of school he was playing with the magnetic letters on the fridge and found all the letters to his name and spelt it out for me. He was so proud of himself. Yup, ready for school!

Here's his first Kindy school painting which he came running out with on the second day of class. It was actually a picture of anything in particular (I asked) but rather "all the colors there were, Mommy" - duh, can't you see that? He tried very hard to stick it on the fridge, but it didn't last there long. We displayed it on the pantry door for a few days, you know, until the next project came home....

I saw the most awesome idea EVER!! Take a picture of all of the kids artwork. Then make "scrapbooks" (Flikr, Shutterfly, whatever) of the photos of the artwork. Then you "save" all the artwork in a condensed version and they can flip through the scrapbook to look at it! You could do one for each grade or each year (2011, 2012, etc). I am so going to do this for Brynna once she is doing something besides scribbling! :)
