Texas Bluebonnets

We didn't miss the Bluebonnets this year! When Aunty Lori came for a visit in April we decided to head up to Brenham, stop in at the Blue Bell ice cream factory (yum) and take photos of the kids in the Bluebonnets, a Spring tradition here in Texas.

The Bluebonnets mostly grow wild along the freeway, so on the way to Brenham we scoped out a good spot to stop when we finished gorging ourselves on ice cream. We pulled over on the side of the road, scaled the incline and took our first round of photos. John was not so sure about this, so I don't think I have one photo of him smiling. Plus it was more fun to point out all the trucks flying past us than pose for photos. I shot them fast, furious and without much care for the lighting or angle - especially once the fire ants found me!

We drove back towards Houston and not far down the road was a flat field, off them main freeway, and obviously THE place to take the photos since there were at least five other cars there. It was early in the season, so we were one of those horrible people who goes to the Bluebonnets and crushes half of them since we hugged in them:

... ran in them...

... and sat in them!
