Sydney Turns 4

Sydney turned 4 at the end of February and we has celebrations at her class as well as in California. During the morning Devotions at school, they invite any kids with birthdays up to the front and everyone sings to them. Sydney is extremely shy when it comes to the stage - she hates to perform - so I was completely surprised that she bounded up to the stage and proudly smiled throughout the whole song.
We flew out to California a few days before Sydney's birthday. Rich and I spent a few days in Vegas together - our first nights away by ourselves since John was born - and the kids stayed at the Beach House with Grammie and Nana.

On Sydney's actual birth-day we were at the Beach House. Syd opened up her presents in the morning and we had some fun playing with them. We brought one present from everyone (we couldn't bring everything) so as she opened up the gifts we were able to tell her who each gift was from and we talked about all the people who love her.

We decided to go the mini-golf place not far from the Beach, but when we got there, we found it didn't open for another hour. There was a Chuck-E-Cheese across the highway, so we went over there instead. In case you're ever needing a last minute birthday celebration - they have the "walk-in Birthday Party" option that gets you an inflatable crown, huge mylar balloon and cake - all presented to the birthday girl by Chuck-E himself!

So the four of us feasted on birthday cake for lunch and played a zillion games. One highlight was the manager was testing all the machines, so he told Sydney she could follow him around and take all the winners tickets that came out of the machines he tested - this may have netted her an extra lollipop from the prize pool!

She was so excited that she was turning four. All day you could randomly say "How old are you" and her whole body would light up and she'd yell " FOUR".

Rich took John and I home so he could go down for a nap and then he took Sydney to the mini golfing. After naptime we went down to Thousand Oaks and spent some time with Grammie and Nana. We all went out for a fabulous steak dinner that night and continued the celebrations with another cake that was decorated with a surfing Minnie & Mickey.
