As you can see from these "action" shots, sledding was all about the photos for Mommy and Daddy, and not about the fun for the kids. The sledding "hill" is actually this very small hill next to Grammie's and its about 50 feet long. The first picture is Rich and Sydney at the top of the "hill".
The hill runs straight into a pine tree, so Rich spent about an hour building a snow turn so that we could guide the sled along the ramp and away from the tree. Here you can see Rich and Sydney approaching the ramp. After they took a run, I bundled John up in a blanket (he wouldn't put on all the clothes) and took him for a ride. Unfortunately I had no ability whatsoever to guide the sled down and headed straight for the tree, so I ended up bailing - flipping the sled over and face-washing poor John.
Sydney look oh-so-thrilled at the end of the run, don't you think. Guess how many times she went - ok, I'll tell you - once.
Its been a few months since we were actually in Wisconsin, so I don't remember exactly how we managed to get John back on the sled after I face-washed him. My guess would be since the kid only weighed 20 pounds at the time, we probably just picked him up and stuck him on it - screaming and all. You WILL enjoy sledding, dammit!
