It started off as very small flakes that melted as soon as it touched the ground. As the morning went on, the flakes got bigger and started to accumulate on the ground and the roofs. Below is the view of our front yard from our front door. Its the only day that our snowman decoration actually looked like he belonged!
The kids at school were really excited, so the teachers bundled them up and let them go outside to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Coming from Wisconsin, its hard to believe that this is the first time most of the kids have seen snow; their parents, too! People were incredulous about the icicles forming on the fountain outside the school.
Below are the tropical plants that are along the side of our house. Somehow I don't think they were enjoying the snow as much as everyone else! Four weeks later we would experience the "Deep Freeze". Everyone was in a tizzy preparing for the sub-zero temperatures that would linger for days. Plants in most yards, including these palms, were covered with any available blanket, tarp or old piece of carpet. We had to wrap all our outdoor pipes to keep them from freezing and bursting - fun, eh?
And just for good measure, here's a pic of my new hairdo!
