Little Miss Innocent

Amazingly, Sydney will be two in two weeks from today! Two going on twenty, is more like it. She has hit the "terrible twos" a bit early and is testing Mommy (and Daddy) all the time. She has a new fascination with pouring. Her favourite late afternoon activity - when the backyard is finally shaded - is to sit with various vessels of different sizes and pour water back and forth, and back and forth. This has thus been translated into pouring her cup of water into her bowl of Cheerios at breakfast. Pouring her yogurt into her veggies at dinner. Trying to pour milk from her sippy cup onto the floor. And man is she fast! You turn your back for two seconds to get a cloth and she's already finished pouring.

This is about the best picture I've been able to get of her for awhile. Whilst all her friends will gladly look at the camera and give goofy grins, she likes to run away from the camera - or just turn her head; so I've got plenty of pictures of the back of her head if you'd like to see one.

That said, I'm intentionally including this picture of the back of Sydney's hair so you can see Daddy's first success at doing Sydney's hair! I can't remember I had gone, I think I ran some errands during her nap, and when I came home her hair was in a ponytail (the other picture above gives you the front view of the "do"). He was quite proud of himself that the hairtie hadn't fallen out yet. The shirt she has on was actually being worn as a dress - he thought it was a dress - with her diaper hanging out below it. Now I know that ridiculously short skirts are all the rage with teenagers these days, but not on my 2-year-old!
And, yes, she's planting a beautiful kiss on John's head - it's one of her favourite things to do (aside from pouring, and running (see below)). She's actually fantastic with him and loves to pat his head when he's feeding. Whenever she hears him squawk in the baby monitor she says "Mommy, go get baby John, he's crying". How sweeet.
