Introducing JOHN!

My apologies to everyone who hasn't seen any pictures of John yet - life has been a bit crazy! I write this entry when he is already 7 weeks old and it's amazing to see how much he's changed looks already (as you can probably tell).

We welcomed John into the world on Dec 10 at 1:33pm - earlier than originally planned - but all went well and Jen's recovery was swift. We were in the hospital for 8 days as he was under neo-natal care to watch his temperature and eating. He was so tiny - 5lb 1oz - that I must admit I was afraid to touch him the first few days. He had no meat on his bones, and as horrible as it sounds, I called him "little chicken" for the first week.

I think Rich looks more tired in this picture than me! That's not fair. As John came 5 days earlier than planned, Rich continued to go to work that week and my mom (who had arrived from Wisconsin on Dec 5) watched Sydney during the day. They would come and visit us in the late afternoon for holds and cuddles.
Sydney wasn't quite sure what to make of him intially, as is understandable. The first time she came into the hospital room she stood on a chair next to Daddy, who was holding John, and just kept pointing to Grandma and saying "Grandma, Grandma". Daddy finally passed John to Grandma and then it was okay. Sydney had more of a problem with Mommy than John, especially as I had told her I would be "back after your nap" and then never showed up! Toddlers have great memories and certainly know how to punish you.
