Rich's Birthday at Disney

OK, so you're probably all really sick of all our family photos at Disneyland and hearing about it - but you know what? WE LOVE DISNEYLAND - so the photos and stories are going to keep coming, as Disneyland is a big part of our California life.

But this wasn't just "another day" at Disneyland - this was Rich's Birthday! He took the day off work and we set off at 7:30am for Disney, with my mom in tow as well. As part of her birthday present to Rich, she volunteered to take the kids around by herself for a few hours at some point during the day so that Rich and I could go on the "grown-up" rides together, something we haven't been able to do yet.

We quickly learnt that the day before Halloween is the BEST day of the year to go to Disneyland - it was seemingly empty! Rich and I managed to go on Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Splash Mountain & the Matterhorn in 1 hour 15 minutes. This is UNHEARD of! We were absolutely amazed. We didn't even get any fast passes - we just walked on to each and every ride. It was great.

Little did we know whilst we were screaming away at the "big kid" rides, Sydney was having her first brush with celebrity. Mom took them to the Princess Faire and Coronation ceremony (our little Cinderella's favourite attraction) and it was there that they proceeded to dance around the maypole with Aurora and Heidi Klum and kids! Yes, Seal was watching from the bleachers (protected by a Disney "handler").

John also went on Dumbo for the first time ever - he's usually asleep in the pram when we hit the Dumbo ride. Rich and I rode with him and he had mommy and daddy to himself for about 45 seconds - he LOVED it. He had this massive grin on his face the whole time and was flapping his arms up and down. All we needed to do was put a feather in his mouth and he might have taken flight by himself!

Here's our lovely Cinderella on the carousel - another one of her favourites. Yes, Daddy spoilt her the last time we were at Disney and bought her the "authentic" Cinderella dress. She now not only has to wear it whenever we go to Disney, but it's on most other days at the house. She even wore it to church one day (I was not in the mood to argue).

The happiest place on earth - DISNEYLAND!!!! Who wants to come visit and join us?

I am blown away by how little John has grown and how grown up Sydney looks! It is so nice to see you guys looking so happy sharing time together. One of my new year's resolutions is to stay connected with you, starting today by reading your blog and responding to it! I miss you. Love to you, Rich and the kids xoxo renae

Hi Jen!

Thanks for the blog link. I'm having a lot of fun checking out your journey across the Pacific. :) Totally funny that you went to the celebrity sightings first--that's actually why I started the blog in the first place. My friends from all over kept bugging me about who I'm spotting! I've gone awhile without a sighting but today I had my ULTIMATE sighting--Tom Hanks!

We are huge Disney fans, too. And huge promenade fans. Let us know when you're down here some time (we live in SaMo)...our kids are roughly the same ages, that would be fun! (And from what I've gathered on your blog, we're the same age, too. Heehee.)
