Daughter feels Daddy's pain

A few weeks ago Sydney and I took a trip into the "Big City" to look at the Christmas decorations and to visit Daddy at work. It was my every intention to document, on film, the events of the day and places we visited so I could put a scrapbook page together, but she wasn't all that cooperative (she didn't want to sit on a seat on the train, etc) so these are about the only photos we got. Above is the "before" shot so you can see how pretty she looked - all dressed up for our big day out.

We drove about halfway into the city and then took the train the last few stops. (picture above is waiting for the train) Our first port of call was the Christmas section at the main department store, David Jones. I was quite disappointed with their lack of selection - I had expected MUCH more - and we quickly found our way to the yummy food department and much to my delight I discovered the carry a limited selection of US foods. My delight quickly turned to "you've got to be kidding me" when Uncle Ben's Wild Rice was $4.95/box, Tabasco sauce was $7.99/small bottle, etc, etc.

We then went to Borders to browse in the kid's section and picked out a new book for Sydney (or actually for me, as I'm tired of reading the same stories over and over). She was more interested in the Teddy Bear stuffed animal than the books, oh well.

Our last stop was the Woodside building to catch up with Rich and visit everyone in his office. As you can see, Sydney is about excited to be at the office as Daddy gets every morning. Even when we showed her how the chair spins in circles she wasn't very impressed (neither is her father). As we were up on the 23rd floor we could see across the city in all directions. The only thing Sydney was really interested in trying to spot was the train - to heck with the beautiful river and view.

The three of us had lunch at a local restaurant and then it was back to the train station to head home. I had a sleeping child before I even pulled out of the parking lot at the train station - heaven!
