Big Girl Bed!

My little girl is all grown up! We moved Sydney into a big girl bed this weekend. We decided to do the entire transition in one step and take out all the "baby" furniture and set up her entire Big Girl Room in one day. We bought the bed, dresser and bedside table the weekend before and Daddy went and picked them up Saturday morning. We moved all the old furniture into what will be John's room and assembled everything in her room. Grandma Chris and Grandpa Eric came over to lend a hand as well since I can't lift much these days.

Daddy put up new shelves and we were able to decorate them with some of the stuffed animals we brought back from America. A new kiddy papasan chair was also part of the furnishing plan and we now sit in that chair to read our bedtime stories. We are still looking for a small bookshelf to complete her 'reading corner'. She loves the chair and will disappear into her room, get a book out of the bedside table floor and climb on the chair - I'll find her sitting there "reading".

For the most part Sydney is loving the new bed. The first night it took me a few trips in and out of the room to get her to sleep but she did go to sleep. Then woke up about 3am and it took us awhile to get her back to sleep again; Sunday night was similar. Monday night was a whole new ballgame - she went to bed just fine but was up twice and quite upset. I ended up sleeping in the bed with her from 4am - exactly the habit I didn't want to start - but she was absolutely hysterical and Mommy was sooooooooo tired! It will be interesting to see how we go tonight.

Surprisingly she hasn't once tried to get out of the bed - in fact - she doesn't even turn around and slide herself down like she does on our bed, which is much higher off the ground than hers. The first morning I went in to see her and she was lying at the foot of the bed just staring at the door - I went and sat on the bed next to her and the first thing she said was "Big Girl Bed!". The second morning I went in and she was sitting on the bed taking all the diapers out of the package I left sitting on her bedside table - she was quite proud of the "Mess" she made.

wow! We are making similar plans for little Enzo, though I can't imagine him in a big bed yet. He will love it, though, I am sure. Looks cute! I look forward to seeing the nursery when that is all ready too.
And how nice to have summer there! We are gripping tightly to any bits of warm weather we can find.
Do you do much for halloween over there? What will she be?
Well, keep in touch girl!
